The Stone 14th Anniversary Ale will be released this coming Monday, June 21st and I had a chance to hang with head brewer Mitch Steele and learn how they came up with the Emperial IPA for this year’s anniversary beer. Dr Bill even joined in for his first taste of the 14th!

Today I’m headed down to Stone Brewing in Escondido for a couple of very special “Beers With…” segments. The first is with Dr. Bill Sysak, the Beverage Supervisor at the Stone World Bistro and Gardens. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Bill and he is a truly fascinating guy that is truly fanatical about craft beer and my hope is that craft beer lovers all over that haven’t met him yet will have a chance to get to know who he is.
The second interview will be with Stone’s head brewer Mitch Steele. We’ll be talking about a brand new beer coming from Stone and of course, tasting it. Should be a good time!
On Sunday morning Andrew and I headed to 21st Amendment for the Brewers Tea, a brunch of sorts with some pretty cool beers being poured and sausages on the grill. We met some pretty cool people including Shawn O’Sullivan, the founder of 21st Amendment, Mitch Steele from Stone, Dave from Elysian and a really cool home brewer named Richard Brewer-Hay. He has a really cool story about a new brewery that he’s starting, literally, out of his basement.
So you guys know me… with all these cool people around, I decided to do some impromptu interviews. Check em out!

We’ve been pouring through all the footage from the Stone Brewery shoot and it all looks great! The editing process is a bit of a task, at least to make it look as good as we want it to look, so please be patient with us and we’ll get it finished and loaded on the site.
For now, check out the “Beers With Mitch Steele” segment. We learned about Stone’s brewing philosophies and Mitch’s influence since he became Head Brewer AND we got to preview the 13th Anniversary Ale! It’s awesome!
