Some of you may recall that back in May I joined the New Brew Thursday gang at Stone & Churchills Pub in San Marcos to shoot part of the “I Am A Craft Beer Drinker Video”. The shoot was so much fun and finally, the wait is over. The video is out!!!

Last Saturday while hanging out at Stone for the “I Am A Craft Beer Drinker” video, I ran into Chef Alex Carballo. And since we have the Stone episode coming up soon, which Alex is of course featured in, I thought we’d take a few minutes to do a quick “Beers With…” segment with Alex and find out what’s going on in the Stone kitchens!

Most of you know the New Brew Thursday gang of John, Stephen and Brad and have probably seen some of their episodes. They’re big beer geeks and love to travel around and talk to different beer people and enjoy a variety of brews much like myself.
And like the craft beer community of brewers and brewpubs, we also like to support each other’s endeavors to bring other beer people entertainment and information about the craft beers they love. It’s actually really cool when different beer shows give each other props because ultimately we want to support craft beer.
So last night, after filming the new segments at Stone, I headed to the top secret filming location of New Brew Thursday to shoot their newest episode on the Pints for Prostates event that I have worked very hard to organize. The charity is an important one because of how dangerous prostate cancer is to men and this event is a great way for men to learn more about the dangers of prostate cancer and also enjoy some great craft beers.
I didn’t know completely what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. John’s girlfriend Evie had worked hard to learn and prepare a prostate healthy meal of pork loin, kale and potatoes in a pomegranate sauce which is a prostate healthy food. The guys decided to pair it with The Bruery’s Hottenroth Berleiner Weiss and instead of the commonly used raspberry, Evie made a pomegranate reduction sauce for the beer which was most excellent! So big thanks to Evie for the delicious food!
The shoot went very well. We talked about Breweries, Bars and Beer Food and prostate cancer, the great food and the very good beer. And after we finished, more beers were enjoyed, tweeting was happening and there was much rejoicing.
The episode is slated to air next Thursday June 10th, just nine days before the LA Pints for Prostates event. Make sure to tune in!

On Saturday, while shooting the “I Am A Craft Beer Drinker” video with the New Brew Thursday gang at Stone Brewing, I was introduced to an awesome craft beer lover (and fellow Southerner) by the name of Laurie Delk. Laurie has been working on a project called “100 Beers. 30 Days.” After talking to her for just a few minutes, I knew we had to have “Beers With” Laurie and thanks to the NBT crew, we did!

Today, in fact, as I type, I am hanging out with Stephen, John and Brad from New Brew Thursday, Ashley Routson (The Beer Wench) and a few other craft beer lovers as we shoot video for the new “I Am a Craft Beer Drinker” video, the followup to “I Am a Craft Brewer” video that was released last year.
We’re shooting at one of the best craft beer bars in North San Diego, Churchill’s Pub & Grille in San Marcos, CA. This pub is known for one of the best craft beer selections in the area, often getting cool & unique brews on tap before other places and they have great food too. I am currently enjoying one of my favorite Stone anniversary beers, the 12th, the Bitter Oatmeal Chocolate Stout, on tap! That is just too freaking cool!
So anyway, this is a cool video to be shooting because it’s all about people who enjoy a good craft beer, not just for the great taste but also because craft brewers are known for using quality ingredients, caring about their product and how it is distributed and caring about the environment both in production and in recycling.
I’m up soon, after Ivan, the owner of Churchill’s. For now, I’ll just enjoy my Stone 12th and wait my turn. By the way, we’ll be headed to Stone Brewing next to do some more shooting and of course, get my growlers filled and then we’ll hit Pizza Port Carlsbad for dinner on the way home. Good times!
